Holy Spirit v. "angel of light"

Updated: Mar 2

"And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." II Corinthians 11:14-15

What is the fruit (manifestation) of the Holy Spirit?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control..." Galatians 5:22-23

The key word here is "self-control". When a person acts out of character and lacks the ability to practice self-control, this is evidence of a demonic manifestation. Many people assume that anything supernatural is from "God" but in reality, not everything supernatural is from the Holy Spirit. The kingdom of darkness is made up of unclean spirits who are responsible for producing false signs and wonders (Acts 8:9-1; II Thessalonians 2:9). We must discern the difference, according to God's Word, so we do not fall into the deception of witchcraft and idolatry.

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God..." I John 4:1

What is an "angel of light"

or masquerading spirit?

The word "masquerade" means pretending to be someone it's not, false show, or pretense. The synonyms are impersonation, deception, facade, playacting, etc.

In Acts 16:16-18, the girl following Paul and Silas shouted statements that were technically "true". But, she was under the influence of an "angel of light" known as the 🐍 python spirit. The Holy Spirit gave Paul and Silas discernment to perceive the truth beyond what "appeared" to be valid or true. Without fear or hesitation, Paul spoke in Christ's authority and commanded the demonic spirits to leave her and she received her deliverance.

How do you test the spirits?

"When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill."

Matthew 8:16

The key word here is "Word". Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14) so when we obey and declare His Word, we are making a practical agreement with God's Perfect Will to be made manifest in this physical world.

God is a God of order (I Corinthians 14:33) and He is a man of His Word (Isaiah 55:11). Christ followers have the authority (Luke 10:19), in the name of Jesus (Matthew 10:8), to bind and cast out (Matthew 16:19) into the pit (Luke 8:31) any demon out of a person. This is how you practically test the spirit by commanding it out with your words in Jesus name.

If we see someone manifesting strangely, use your God-given authority and speak:

"If you are an unclean spirit, come out in the name of Jesus."

"But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time." Acts 8:9-11

The people were bewitched (Galatians 3:1) and due to their lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6), they assumed that the sorcerer Simon was "a man of God" because he operated in the supernatural. The source of his supernatural work was produced by demonic spirits and not by the Holy Spirit.

Many times in a church setting, people incorporate non-biblical, pagan-inspired practices such as:

  • Fire Tunnels (Leviticus 18:21; 2 Chronicles 33:6; I Timothy 5:22). It is a symbolic practice that refers back to the sacrificial act of "walking through fire" that people practiced to appease the god Moloch. When unknown people touch you in this practice, the transference of unclean spirits is very likely. "Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure." I Timothy 5:22. The common practice of "laying on of hands" in new age is called Shaktipat which means transference of spirits. In witchcraft, laying on of hands is a practical way to transfer demonic spirits from one person to another. Sexual immorality is the most powerful forms of transferring demonic spirits and curses from one person to another because it is an unholy covenant of becoming "one" (I Corinthians 6:16) outside of God's protection of a marriage covenant (Matthew 19:6).

  • "Holy" Yoga (I Corinthians 10:21). The word yoga means "union" or "yoke" or "becoming one with deity". Yoga is not based on stretching, but on the participation of poses. When you enter into a dedicated pose with a focused mind, you've come into agreement with an ungodly covenant. Yoga is a practical form of worship in Hinduism which was created to honor the story of the "gods". Demon spirits, like the spirit of Jezebel (who resides in the third-eye) and the snake spirit (who resides in the spine), have legal right to enter into your body through this sacred practice. Through your free-will, you've given the demonic powers permission to manifest in your life. During yoga, you may experience a supernatural euphoria which is known as the kundalini awakening. In this moment, the demonic spirits have created a yoke or covenant which is the literal definition of the word "yoga". Stretching is not wrong, especially runner or chiropractor stretches. These standard stretches have been proven to be more effective to the body than yoga poses, and without the spiritual baggage. Like an addiction, the demons needs your worship. A few side-effects of doing yoga and then deciding not to participate anymore are symptoms of back pains/problems, anxiety, perverted nightmares, lustful thoughts, skin problems, stomach issues, accident-prone, fearful thoughts, uncontrollable emotions, hearing voices, etc. The only way to receive freedom is to repent, renounce and cast out these unclean spirits in Jesus name.

  • Spiritual Drunkenness or High (I Peter 5:8-9; Acts 2:15; II Timothy 2:4). God is not a spiritual bartender or drug dealer. We are called to be "sober-minded" and "vigilant" soldiers for Christ.

  • "Angel" Tarot Cards (Leviticus 19:31).

  • "Prophetic" Ouija Boards (Deuteronomy 18:9-12).

  • Witchcraft (I Samuel 15:23; Galatians 5:19-21) rebellion, fear, control, domination, and manipulation.

  • Unbiblical Oaths/Vows (Matthew 5:35-37).

  • Tattoos (Leviticus 19:28). The drawing or words are not significant but the marking of the skin and the spilling of blood creates a spiritual blood convent with the demonic realm. The cutting of the skin, whether with ink or not, is a common practice in the occult to solidify an agreement with the demonic kingdom. In deliverance, the demons claimed to be using tattoos as portals to enter in and out of the person. Demons manipulate the minds of Christians to justify permanent markings or tattoos in their consciousness by suggesting a “godly” or “good” idea such as a bible verse, picture of Jesus, etc. The soul (life) is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11). If you have tattoos, humbly repent and renounce these markings by declaring blood of Jesus over your body to close every spiritual portal.

Just because you place biblical phrases, terminology or even "Jesus" name on something, does not make it "holy" (I Peter 1:16; Matthew 7:21).

"You have disregarded the commandment of God to keep the tradition of men.” Mark 7:8

If you desire to be delivered from darkness and to live in the fullness of God's Word, here are the biblical steps you must take:

  1. Forgive every person (including yourself). The word "forgive" means to divorce; or break ties. Forgiveness breaks the sin of idolatry (first of the ten commandments) because whoever has power over your emotions, other than Jesus Christ; who is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), has taken the position of "god" in your heart. When you let go, you let God fight for you (Romans 12:19).

  2. Repentance. The word "repent" means to humbly return back to God (II Corinthians 7:10). Through confession (I John 1:9), you break sin's legal right, reverse the curse, and enter back into your original predestined position in Christ. Sin is a virus. When you do not kill sin immediately, it grows. If someone in your bloodline sinned and did not repent when they died (Exodus 20:5), the covenant made with sin is still active in the spiritual realm. Someone needs to pay the penalty for sin, so like a virus or "debt", that sin passes down the linage of that person, and their offspring suffer the consequences. The righteous are delivered through knowledge (Proverbs 11:9) so when we repent and ask God to forgive us and our ancestors, Jesus takes the punishment and breaks the curse from our bloodline through His Blood that was shed on the cross (Romans 6:10). Confront the iniquities that may be hidden in your heart like offense, bitterness, pride, anger, etc. These are barriers to your breakthrough.

  3. Renounce. This action is tied to the power of confession. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit." Proverbs 18:21. In Jesus name, renounce and cancel every ungodly agreement/covenant your ancestors and you made with sin, whether knowingly or unknowing. Like a spiritual lawyer, you break the legal agreements. Ungodly covenants may exist if the agreement was established unknowingly by your ancestors, in your dreams, or participated in anything that is contrary to God's Word. God's Word dismantles sin's legal right and replaces it with God's Perfect Will. "Every evil altar, foundation and programing that was set up against my life and my family, be broken in Jesus' mighty name."

  4. Declare. The Word of God is a Sword (Hebrews 4:12; Ephesians 6:17) which means it's a practical weapon. The more you obey and declare God's Word, the physical world must obey the seeds you planted in the spiritual world. You reap what you sow, whether good or evil (Galatians 6:7). "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9. This physical world is a reflection of what is produced in the spiritual world. The physical world is constantly subject to change. So, whatever seeds you continue to plant and nurture, either God's Word or sin, is the harvest you will reap. This is the law of cause and effect. Time produces whatever is manufactured in the invisible world, whether holy or unholy. Christianity is a lifestyle, not a religion or ritual.

  5. Renew Your Mind. Your mind must be your servant, not your master. To see the power of transformation, your mind must be renewed by God's Word (Romans 12:2). Obedience is greater than sacrifice because it is our practical worship to God (I Samuel 15:22). We are called to fulfill a purpose like a soldier (I Timothy 2:3-7). If we claim to not have "enough" faith, that simply means your "faith" has been contaminated with deception. The more we read God‘s Word, like a Sword, it cuts out the lies and renews it with truth. The same concept when you take a shower daily 🧼 or clean your house for optimal purity and cleanliness. The same must be done with our minds. In Matthew 12:45 and Luke 11:26 when it speaks about demons leaving and coming back seven-times worse, they are able to tempt you but cannot enter if the house is clean. Jesus overcame temptation with the verbal declaration of His Word (Matthew 1:4-11). Since our brain is limited in bandwidth, we must continue to reject sin from dwelling in our minds through the power of agreement in God's Word.

In conclusion, God's Word is the foundation of His Promises which are eternally available, by faith, through the finished work of Jesus Christ. God is our Creator and we are his creation. When we follow His Word, we align ourselves with His Will which has been established for us before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4) on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10).
